The Hollywood couple were devastated by the death of their 16-year-old son Jett in January 2009. They have both spoken of how they came to terms with their grief, explaining looking after their ten-year-old daughter Ella Bleu and their Scientology faith helped them deal with Jett`s passing.
It has now been reported the couple have decided to expand their family in honour of Jett. At 47, Kelly may be too old to have another baby, but the pair have decided to hope for the best.
"A baby is the number one priority in Kelly and John`s life right now," a source told National Enquirer magazine. "The tragedy was almost unbearable. But they`re slowly finding their footing again as a couple. John and Kelly have so much love to give, and are so family orientated, that another baby would be so welcome and go far in helping mend their broken hearts."
The pair are aware they may struggle to conceive, so have already discussed adopting. Elle Bleu is thrilled with the idea, and has told her parents she would love another brother or sister.
"Nobody is ever going to replace Jett, and a part of them will never recover from his loss," the source explained. "But they feel it`s never too late to expand their family. Family means so much to them and they are looking forward to the joy, excitement and chaos a new baby brings."
Jett died after suffering a seizure while on a family holiday in the Bahamas.
