Some like it hot. Others like it heavy. Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt is said to have made an impressive purchase weighing no less than 36 tonnes: a Soviet-era T54 Russian tank.
ґThe military vehicle was used as a prop in his latest zombie blockbuster, World War Z. Based on the book by bestselling author of The Zombie Survival Guide, Max Brooks, the action adventure puts the spotlight on Pitt playing a UN employee trying to prevent a zombie takeover of the world.
But how will Angelina Jolie and the couple`s six children like their papa`s new "innocent toy"?
The 47-year-old star of Fight Club, who recently announced plans to give up acting when he turns 50, was quoted as saying that he likes ageing. "With age comes wisdom? I`ll take wisdom over youth any day," Pitt told a media conference in South Korea.
"Satisfied, at peace, those would be more goals for myself."
In the meantime, in search of wisdom, shipping his T54 is top of Pitt`s agenda.
The first T54 was made back in 1945, just months before the end of the Second World War. The most-produced tank in history, it was involved in many of the world`s armed conflicts in the 20th century, and is still used in many foreign armies.
It`s believed the legendary machine also spurred the United States to develop its famous M60 Patton battle tank.
