Kim Kardashian has donated $50,000 to charity

The reality TV star gave the money to The Trevor Project - which provides suicide prevention services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) teenagers - after raising the sum during a fundraiser in New York City in September 2011, where she was put to work on the trading floor of the global financial services company Cantor Fitzgerald.

Revealing where she was planning to donate the money, she added on her blog: "The firm lost more than 600 employees in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 and on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, they donated all revenues from their trades to charities around the world. I was honoured to take part!"

A range of famous faces have been vocal in their support for the Trevor Project, including Kevin McHale, `Harry Potter` actor Daniel Radcliffe - who received an award from the organisation last year recognition of his work for them - and singer-songwriter Adam Lambert.

Last month, Lady Gaga was given a Hero Award by the company at their annual Trevor Live event.

Accepting the prize at the star-studded function at The Hollywood Palladium, she said: "This means more to me than any Grammy I could ever win."
