The state Duma approved the increase of payments on OSAGO

The Duma Committee on economic market has confirmed amendments to the law about OSAGO, which aims at raising the limits on compensation for damage to the car. However the Ministry of Finance has failed to achieve so that they do not affect already existing policies.

At the plenary session the state Duma will consider the bill only 1 July. Changes include increased from 1 October 2014 compensation for damage to the car from 120 thousand to 400 thousand roubles, and for the harm to life and health of the victim, from 160 thousand to 500 thousand rubles.

Currently, the insurance company can decide what part worn by 80%, but to compensate only the remaining 20% of the price. Today's price policy CTP is proposed to remain constant until 1 January 2015. But in a year the Central Bank will be able to adjust tariffs twice, and from 2016 to change the tariffs will be not more than 1 times a year.

In addition to the second reading was recommended amendment allowing extrajudicial procedure to settle disputes visitors with insurance companies. According to the approved version, the insurance company shall make decisions on payments for 20 days, not including holidays. Once the customer is dissatisfied purchased compensation, it should re-apply to the insurance company, who will review the size of payments for 5 days.

Natalia Burykina reported that the law should encourage insurers to create a payment immediately in full, in consequence of the first treatment, the insurance company is obliged to pay to the visitor the whole sum at once. As Igor Ivanov added: "the Contents of this amendment is contained in the fact, to stop the abuse of the right side of the so-called avtojurist that trigger applications to the court on insurance cases, when the customer is not even addressed to the insurance company. Conforming amendment will allow to lower an additional, unwarranted expenses of insurers court actions that will reduce the unprofitability of CTP".
