Kharkiv court refused to recognize the illegal demolition of the monument to Lenin in the city, informs the press service of the city Council on Tuesday.

In autumn last year, the former at that time the Governor of the region Igor baluta gave the order to dismantle the monument to Lenin on Freedom square in Kharkiv. This occurred against the background of meetings where activists tried to demolish the monument. Kharkiv city Council asked the court to declare illegal and to cancel the order the Balut.

"Kharkiv appellate administrative court refused the city Council in the requirement to recognise illegal the ex-head of Kharkiv regional state administration Igor Balut on the demolition of the monument to Lenin in Liberty square ", - is informed in the report of the city authorities on Tuesday.

According to the Deputy Director of the legal Department of the Kharkiv city Council Konstantin Prokopyeva, the city Council will appeal to the Supreme administrative court with an appeal against the decision of the appellate court.

Vandalism relatively monuments of the Soviet era have increased in Ukraine since the political decline in the country. The most resonant was the incident on 1 December 2013, when the radicals dropped from the pedestal of a statue of Lenin in Central Kiev. Just vandals have demolished more than five hundred monuments to Lenin in Ukraine, and about 1, 7 thousand survived.
