In Chechnya, one policeman has been killed after a group of gunmen fired at a school and the house of a village elder. The incident took place in a small settlement of the Itum-Kali region of the republic.

According to preliminary reports, the gunmen used a grenade launcher.

Four other policemen were injured in the attack.

A search for the perpetrators is underway.
