German authorities have plans to pay a surviving Soviet prisoners of war compensation in the amount of 10 million euros, reports Reuters referring to sources in the coalition government.

Offer to pay such amount nominated Commissioners of the ruling parties in Germany - Christian democratic Union (CDU) and Christian social Union (CSU), as well as members of the Social democratic party of Germany (SPD). For the final decision requires the consent of the greens.

The amount shown is based on 4 thousand survivors of prisoners of war, each of which have plans to allocate 2, 5 thousand euros.

The Agency emphasizes that this step is extremely important from a political point of view, taking into account the tension in the relations between the West and Russia on the background of the fall in Ukraine.
