The Verkhovna Rada approved the retreat from Kiev obligations under human rights in the Donbass
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted a communication on the right of Ukraine to withdraw from the part of international obligations for the protection of human rights in some areas of Donbass in connection with the conduct of military operations.
The decision on the meeting of Parliament on Thursday supported the 249 parliamentarians with the necessary minimum of 226 votes, RIA " Novosti ".
in the explanatory paper to the document indicated that the conduct of military operations in some areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions was accompanied by the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of laws that are incompatible with the obligations of Ukraine under the Convention on the protection of human rights and main freedoms, the international Covenant on civil and political rights and the European social Charter." thus, Ukraine should use its discretion to derogate from the obligations stipulated by paragraph 3, article second of articles 9, 12, 14 and 17 of the international Covenant on civil and political rights and articles 5, 6, 8 and 13 of the Convention about protection of human rights and basic freedoms in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine
