The U.S. Department of defense has recognized the ineffectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions
We need to accept the fact that the Russian Federation will not abandon its current course and that the punishment here does not help, said U.S. head of the Ministry of defense Ashton Carter.

Western countries did not recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia and lay on Moscow a large share of responsibility for the conflict in the Donbass, rejecting the Russian arguments. In this regard, they are in several stages has imposed penalties against Russian politicians and businessmen, as well as the raw number and military organizations and state-owned banks.

"It is clear that the penalties affect the Russian economy. But unbeknownst to this somehow forced (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to withdraw from a course, to which he moved in the last year in Crimea, " said Carter on the results of the secret meetings in Russia with American diplomats and military leaders in Stuttgart.

Western countries since March 2014 several times already imposed penalties because Russia's position on Ukraine. The last case of the use of such practices were the limits imposed in March 2015, when expanded sanctions List of the USA.
