Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini, who had been the special representative of the head of the OSCE contact group on settling the situation in Ukraine, has resigned from his post, reports the Swiss television channel.

"The Federal Department of foreign Affairs of Switzerland (FDA) confirmed the data of the media that Tagliavini wishes to terminate its range of capabilities in the near future," said television channel referring to the Swiss newspaper.

the Ministry did not explain the timing and reasons for leaving.

Tagliavini is a renowned Swiss diplomat, who Headed the Commission of inquiry of the causes of the armed conflict in South Ossetia. In 2003, in NZZ Folio (monthly journal of the Neue Zurcher Zeitung) she was named " outstanding diplomat Switzerland ".
