Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Germany for the ratification of the Treaty on the unity
The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Germany for the ratification of the Treaty of Union between Ukraine and the EU.

"Thank you Germany for the ratification of the Treaty on unification of Ukraine with the EU. Another important step towards European integration ", - the head wrote on his page on Twitter.


The Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany Andriy Melnyk on Wednesday said that Germany has completed the ratification procedure of the Treaty on the unity and sends the appropriate documents to Brussels.

The crisis of political power in Ukraine began in the fall of 2013 because of a suspension by the government of former President Viktor Yanukovych's course towards European integration.

The new leader of the country Petro Poroshenko signed ratified by the European Parliament and Ukrainian Rada of the Association agreement with the EU. However the main Part of the free trade area has been delayed until 2016 because of concerns about the Russian Federation a possible influx of illegal items from the EU through Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine hopes to get a visa-free regime with the European Union.

Kiev hopes that all countries ratify the EU Association agreement with Ukraine before the end of the current year.


Among the goals of the Treaty on the unity between Ukraine and the EU: the development Association, a gradual rapprochement between Ukraine and the EU based on common values, deepening economic and trade relations, strengthening cooperation in the field of justice, freedom and security.

Careful attention is paid to the regulations of the free trade area between Ukraine and the EU (FTA), which should provide gradual integration of the Ukrainian economy into the EU internal market. Part of the agreement addresses issues of establishing the principles of cooperation in several sectors: energy, industrial policy and entrepreneurship, taxation, tourism and others. Also defined the mechanism and path for Ukraine to obtain financial assistance from the EU. The entire contract consists of more than 1000 pages, and its structure consists of a preamble, seven parts, 43 annexes and three protocols. Priority is given to economic aspects of the Treaty.
