OP about the idea to bring back the penalty in Ukraine: its abolition is a condition of membership in the Council of Europe
The restoration of the death penalty in Ukraine will not help solve the conflict in Donbas and will only add fuel to the fire, said the head of the Council of the Public chamber of Russia on support of compatriots abroad Elena sutorina and reminded about the European commitment of Kiev.

Several media outlets have said before referring to the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yuri Birch (premiere party " people's front ), a group of Ukrainian parliamentarians in the near future will submit a draft law on the temporary return of the death penalty. Ukraine declared the death penalty as part of its obligations under the sixth Protocol to the European Convention on human rights, which was ratified in 2000. The Protocol provides for the abolition of the death penalty in non-force while at the same time an opportunity for the countries to retain the death penalty for my sins committed " in time of war or of imminent threat of war ".

"This is a Prime example not only of blatant attitude to their own people, but also an indication that Kiev was not seeking to stabilize the situation. Such actions do not lead to the establishment of peaceful dialogue and prove once again that Ukraine is moving away from the Minsk agreements and wants to continue to tighten its law, " said sutorina, quoted by the press service of the chamber.

"To bring under the death penalty in this case will be possible any unwanted Kyiv person - for example, to declare everyone who is at war on Donbass for their land, war criminals and traitors and execute them. All This does not contribute to the resolution of the conflict, but on the contrary, only adds fuel to the fire, " she said.

Stormin added that in many countries who want to cooperate with the European Union imposed a moratorium on the death penalty and its abolition is a condition of membership in the Council of Europe." So, what course of European integration can be a speech?" - said the member of the Public chamber.
