French people Member of the delegation of French parliamentarians, who visited the Crimea, Claude Goasguen believes that the inhabitants of the Peninsula had every right to hold a referendum on the connection to Russia.


A delegation of 10 French MPs this week called for a Crimea - Yalta, Simferopol and Sevastopol, where he held a number of meetings with the local leadership. The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine called it " an act of disrespect to national sovereignty of Ukraine and conscious violation of the law of Ukraine ". The French foreign Ministry called the visit by the failures of international law.


"I declare that the Crimeans had no legal right to hold a referendum. Needless to say, had! Why not? This is what has saved the region from war, " said Goergen at a press conference in the Russian capital.

Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum in which a Large number of residents, do not recognise the legitimacy of the February coup in Ukraine, voted for joining the Russian Federation. In the capital of Russia notice that the referendum in Crimea complies with international law and the UN Charter.
