The visit of the delegation of the U.S. Congress in Minsk runs from 2 to 4 August. Already held meetings of the delegation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs Alexander Gurianov, Chairman of the National Bank Pavel Kallaur and civil society representatives.

"The members of the delegation discussed the us-Belarusian relations, human rights and democratization, the state of the Belarusian economy and regional security issues, including the crisis in Ukraine ", - is informed in the report of the Embassy.

It is noted that the members of the delegation also stressed the U.S. commitment to supporting the sovereignty and independence of all countries. According to the Embassy, " they spoke about the search for peace in the region, which include the cooperation with Belarus in areas of mutual interest, while emphasizing a long-standing concern of the U.S. need to take real steps in the field of human rights and democracy, especially in the early presidential elections in 2015 ".

the head of Belarus Lukashenko had previously expressed the opinion that North America must connect to the settlement of the fall in the Donbass. He expressed confidence in the normalization of the situation in this case.
