Energy Ministry: Kyiv is going to increase the supply of U.S. fuel for nuclear power plants
Kiev hopes to 2016 to increase fuel deliveries to Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPP) from the American company Westinghouse to five deliveries out of a maximum of 13, said the head of Ministry of Ukraine Volodymyr demchyshyn.

Ukraine is trying to diversify the supply of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants at the expense of imports from the United States. At this time the main supplier of fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power is the Russian Company TVEL.

"I hope that in 2016 we will have five deliveries from 13 from Westinghouse, this is already a very significant step to diversify supply, and at the moment still 12 of 13 comes from Russia," demchyshyn said at a press conference on the first day of the week.

on the first day of the weekend Demchyshyn also said that maybe the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine may adopt a conclusion on denunciation of the agreement with the Russian company TVEL on the construction in Ukraine of the enterprise for the production of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. Ukrainian concern "Nuclear fuel" and the fuel rod in 2011 signed a contract for the construction of this enterprise. The construction was planned to lead near the village of Smolino, Kirovograd region.

in addition, for example, in early July, Deputy chief engineer for nuclear and radiation safety of Zaporizhzhya NPP, currently running only on fuel from Russia, Alexander Ignatchenko said that in 2016 it is expected to adopt raw materials from Westinghouse.

in General now the Ukrainian authorities are trying to develop the country's nuclear energy because of the shortage of coal.
