Luc Besson will shoot a film about the death of the "Kursk" "European Hollywood" - a film by Luc Besson's EuropaCorp is going to make a movie about the tragedy of the submarine "Kursk". The film will be an adaptation of the book by the famous English journalist Robert Moore called "a Time to die".

The direction was entrusted to Dane Martin Zandvliet for which the tape is on Course to be the first English film. The script will be written by Robert Rodat, who worked on the film "Saving private Ryan" and received the "Oscar", informs Variety.

Submarine K-141 "Kursk" sank in the Barents sea, 175 km. from the city of Severomorsk, at a depth of 108 meters in the crash, which occurred on August 12, 2000. All 118 crew members aboard were killed. The number of victims of the tragedy became 2nd in the postwar history of the Russian submarine fleet after the explosion of ammunition at B-37.

According to the official version, the boat sank in consequence of the explosion of a torpedo 65-76A ("kit") in the torpedo apparatus N4. The cause of the explosion was a leak of fuel components torpedoes (hydrogen peroxide). After 2 minutes the fire, which was formed after the first explosion, led to the detonation of torpedoes that were in the first compartment of the boat. 2 explosion caused damage to several compartments of the submarine.

EuropaCorp Studio French cinema, founded by Luc Besson and Pierre-Ange Le Pokemon. Together they worked on the films "Subway", "Blue", "La femme Nikita", "Leon", "the Fifth element", "Jeanne DБ??Ark", "the Hostage", "Arthur and the Invisibles", "Transporter 3" and "Hitman".
