"Gazprom" has received the offer from "Naftogaz of Ukraine" to issue an advance on account of future payments for gas transit to the European Union, writes the print edition citing sources.

As the magazine stresses, Naftogaz wants the money to buy gas for injection into storage under the ground.

According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, despite the dialogue with the EBRD, IFC and world Bank loans in a total of $1 billion coming from the spring of this year, Ukraine has not managed to obtain EU funding to fill the underground storage of gas before the heating season.

Source "the businessman" notices that a final conclusion about the possibility of issuing advance will probably be to take the top leadership of Russia.

Advancing Ukraine as a transit country had already taken place in 2012-2013, during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, last time Gazprom issued to Naftogaz advance of $1 billion in the summer of 2013.
