Operational headquarters to prevent the spread of the polio outbreaks created at the Ministry of health of the country, it included Experts from the who and UNICEF.

As said Tuesday the Minister of health of Ukraine Oleksandr Kvitashvili, in the Transcarpathian region recorded two cases of children with polio, the situation is already classified As a disease outbreak in the area. Both cases the child had not been vaccinated against polio. The Minister promised in the upcoming week to send to the regions of the country the vaccine.

"The conclusion was made about the creation of the operational staff to respond and combat the spread of the disease, which invited the Commissioners international organizations, who and UNICEF ", - informs on Thursday a press-service of the Ministry of health.

The Ministry also informs that the certified laboratory who agreed that the presence in Transcarpathia 2 affected children is equal to the polio outbreak.

The Ministry of health emphasizes that the circulation of this virus threatens all unvaccinated children in Ukraine, which should strengthen surveillance throughout the country to take additional samples from all who have had contact with children in Transcarpathia. As stated by the Ministry, the cases of the circulation of the polio virus derived vaccine strain are rare, but expected in States with large numbers of unvaccinated populations. According to the Ministry of health, the level of vaccination coverage of children against the virus in Ukraine is extremely low for the last year, only 49% for the first half of this year - 14, 1%.

The health Ministry reminds that the vaccine for the immunization of children in Ukraine are: 3, 7 million doses of the polio vaccine purchased for Ukraine, the government of Canada with the assistance of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). The first batch of vaccines have already entered the country, the second batch should arrive in the near future.
