Poroshenko said he would raise the issue of the Crimean Tatars in the UNGA
The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wishes to raise the Issue of protection of rights of the Crimean Tatars at the session of the UN General Assembly.

"The question of the protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, the Issue of harassment of commissioners of the Crimean Tatar people in Crimea - this Issue will be put me in the upcoming week during the meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations in new York," said Poroshenko in an interview to Ukrainian TV channels, adding that the Ukrainian delegation will arrive the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev.

Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum in which a Large number of residents at that time still Ukrainian autonomy, do not recognise the legitimacy of the February coup in Ukraine, voted for joining the Russian Federation. In the capital of Russia notice that the referendum in Crimea complies with international law and the UN Charter. Ukraine still considers Crimea its, but at the time occupied territory.
