The cost of Russian gas for Ukraine in the 1st quarter of 2016 has a chance to be lower than in the fourth quarter of 2015, told reporters the head of Board "Gazprom" Alexey Miller on the results of the trilateral meeting Russia-Ukraine-EC.

"Yes, of course, the cost may, without doubt, to be another," said Miller, answering the question of changing the contract price of gas supplies from Russia to Ukraine in the 1st quarter of 2016.

"currently the discount is tied to the gas prices in neighboring with Ukraine EU countries. For their part, prices are determined by the formula. We observed that the bearish dynamics, gas prices decrease, We do not exclude that the cost to the 1st quarter has the option to be lower than fourth. I emphasize everything, in the end, depends on the prices of petroleum products, " explained Miller.

Russia, Ukraine and the EC on the last working day of the week initialed a tripartite Protocol on winter package of gas supplies from Russia to Ukraine. According to the Protocol, Ukraine takes on its own shoulders the obligation to buy 2 billion cubic meters of gas from "Gazprom" for injection into underground storage facilities. This gas must be purchased in October.
