A police officer in west Siberia has been charged with possessing 1 kilogram of heroin, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

The heroin was found in the officer`s patrol car in the city of Surgut in the Khanty Mansi autonomous district.

"The officer has been placed in a pretrial detention center," prosecutors said
