At least five killed in U.S. floods At least five people, including a two-year-old child, have been killed and four are listed as missing as a result of floods in southwestern U.S., CNN said on Tuesday.

Four people perished in Georgia, two of them while trying to drive through floodwater. The fatalities in Georgia also include a two-year-old child, who was swept away from her father.

A 46-year-old man was swept away by current in Tennessee as he was swimming in a flooded ditch with his friend during an apparent bet. The friend was rescued by firefighters.

A total of 300 people were evacuated in the town of Trion in northwest Georgia amid fears that a levee might break.

A state of emergency has been declared in 14 Georgia counties.

The weather forecast is unfavorable, and more thunderstorms are expected.
