The Secretary-General of the United Nations, ban Ki-moon at a meeting with Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin expressed readiness to increase the organization's presence in Ukraine to de-escalate the situation in the Donbass.

As informs on Tuesday a press-service of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Klimkin and meeting ban Ki-moon was held yesterday. The head of the Ukrainian Minister informed about the process of negotiations in the " Normandy format ", the trilateral contact group, as well as about the current state of implementation of the Minsk agreements and preparations for the holding of local elections According to international standards.

"The Secretary-General of the United Nations, ban Ki-moon pledged full support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and expressed readiness to increase the organization's presence to de-escalate and stabilize the situation in the East of Ukraine ", - reported in the report.

The Ukrainian authorities in April of last year began military action against the self-proclaimed LNR and DND. According to the final data of the UN, the victims of the conflict began more than 8 thousand people. The settlement of the situation in the Donbas region is discussed, as well as among them, during meetings in Minsk the contact group, which since September of last year had already taken 3 of the document, regulating the steps to de-escalate the conflict.
