Turkish researchers found out that sex is considered to be an effective method of combating kidney stones (calculi). Read more in the article published in the scientific journal Urology. Briefly about the study informs blog Discover Magazine.

Through a series of experiments scientists were trying to understand, does regular sex life an unexpected conclusion renal calculi in lower ureter.

Participating in the study volunteers were divided into 3 groups. 1 members asked to have sex at least three to four times a week. Patients of 2nd group day after day was given tamsulosin (product that is commonly used in the treatment of difficult urination, but sometimes as a remedy for urolithiasis). Group 3 acted as control.

After 2 weeks experience, 83.9% of patients of the 1st group got rid of kidney stones. In group 2, there were 47.6 per cent and in control group only 34.8 per cent. Regular sex among other things accelerated the removal of stones: on average the process in group 1 took 10 days (2nd - day 16.6 in the third - 18 days).

Kidney stone disease (nephrolithiasis) is the most common of urological diseases. It manifests itself in the deposition of stones in the kidneys. Sizes of stones varied from small, millet to large, the size of a Golf ball. Small stones can be excreted with the urine without causing annoying sensations. The stones of size not less than 2-3 mm can cause obstruction of the ureter, which combined with sharp pains in the lumbar region.
