In Munich took place the consecration of the monument on the grave of Stepan Bandera, said the Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany Andrey Melnik.


The cross on the grave of the head of the Organization of Ukrainian nationalists (OUN) was reconstructed after it was damaged in the summer of unknown, reminiscent of the Ukrainian magazine.

at the dedication of the monument was attended by the Plenipotentiaries of the Ukrainian communities and branches of the OUN from different countries, informs the journal.

Bandera was one of the founders of the Ukrainian insurgent army (UPA) in 1942, which operated mostly in Western Ukraine and fought against German troops and against the Soviet army.

Glorification of Bandera in Ukraine has led to criticism from many veterans of the great Patriotic war and politicians. Part of society in the West of Ukraine believes his fighter for independence, for most people in the East and South of Ukraine, Bandera and the UPA are accomplices of the Nazis.
