The earthquake came as a surprise to the inhabitants of the region The earthquake that swept at night in Sverdlovsk region, was a surprise for the inhabitants of the region SMS sending is not performed. To predict what happened was unreal, believe professionals.

Underground strike in Yekaterinburg and other human settlements of the Sverdlovsk region came as a surprise to the local inhabitants - SMS sending is not performed. As noted in local emergency management, destruction during seismic tremors are not observed.

"For the first time in 5 years that night we recorded aftershocks of magnitude from 3.2 to 4.2. They were recorded at 02:44 local time (00:44 GMT. - Approx. ed.). The epicentre was the village of Shali, located approximately 165 km from Ekaterinburg. Waves from the earthquake were recorded within 2 minutes, but this does not mean that it lasted so much time. At the moment this information is established", - TASS quoted the Manager of the Observatory "Arti" Oleg Kubanskogo.

In a press-service of the Ural regional center of EMERCOM of Russia reported that the Ministry was not informed of the earthquake with the help of SMS-mailing and the all-Russian complex system of informing and the notification in places of mass stay of people on the planet. "Notification of what happened, was not made. All socially important facilities and housing were tested, victims and destructions", - explained in the emergency service.

Earlier in the MOE said that the underground strike was unforeseen and unpredictable: "We're not warned in advance. Routine notification was not needed, because the magnitude was less than 5". Scientists believe that to predict a similar situation was unreal. "We couldn't know in advance about the earthquake that happened at night. Among other things we will not be able to say whether in the foreseeable future the recurrence of seismic activity," - said senior researcher of the Institute of Geophysics of the Ural branch of RAS Alexander Gulyaev.

He recalled that during the last centuries in areas of the Urals had 2 really strong earthquake. "1st - in the area of the Chusovaya river around 1798. 2nd - Bilimbis - 17 August 1914. Its epicenter was located 30 km from Pervoural'sk, where among others were registered by the shocks of the terrain Bilimbis plant. The magnitude of both earthquakes was about 4,5-5,5. Then in the factory got the pipes in some homes opened and closed doors, but severe damage was not" - said the scientist.

"The interval between strong quakes - 116 years. Not hard to guess that the next earthquake will be held in the Urals in 2030, but to say it is not yet possible," - said Gulyaev. Seismic activity accompanies the re-formation of the Ural mountains, which grow at the site of the destroyed formations. "The latest update of the Ural mountain belt is interfaced with a rarely occurring earthquakes of magnitude 3 to 6", - said the scientist.
