Chizhov: punishment EU will not change the policy of Russia
Punishment of the EU will not result in policy change, nor to change the political regime in Russia, said Russia's permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

"If the idea of adoption was to influence Russian policy and change its course, They failed. If, on the reverse side, continued political pressure through punishment or another.. so as the effect of the policy change did not work, the next logical goal is regime change - but it also won't work, " said Chizhov, speaking at the Berlin forum on security.

He clarified that not discussing punishment and not negotiating about whether They are removed or weakened.

"I will not say that these so-called punishments have no effect on the Russian economy, the financial sector. They have it, but we can survive it, " - said Russia's permanent representative to the EU.

at the end of July 2014, the EU and the US imposed punishment on a number of sectors of the Russian economy due to the deterioration of relations between Russia and the West on the background of the conflict in Ukraine. In response, Russia in the last month of summer 2014 has limited the import of food items from countries that have imposed against her punishment, and declared the policy of import substitution. In the summer of 2015 penalties and retaliatory Russian measures were extended for another year.
