Residents decided to take a new name for the Ukrainian city from the book by Ilf and Petrov
Residents of the Ukrainian city of Illichivsk (Odesa region) support the renaming of it in chornomors'ke.
for this name was supported by the participants of the public hearings, reports " Interfax-Ukraine ".



Considered other options: Iliychevsk (in honor of Elijah the prophet), Sukholimansky, Bogoevski, European, Behavoral, ilinsk, Palmyra, port, Primorsk, Svyatoslav, Primorye, Helios, Meeropol, Portopalo, South Park and others. Now the conclusion about the renaming of the city to adopt the Illichivsk city Council and the Verkhovna Rada. Chornomors'ke is a fictional town from the novel by Ilf and Petrov " the Golden calf ", the prototype of which is Odesa (really named in the drafts of the story). The Ukrainian Institute of national memory (BINP) in mid-August recommended to rename 908 towns and villages in the country in connection with the adopted by Verkhovna Rada law " obgovarivaya the Communist regime ". In April the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law prohibiting the public use and propaganda of the Communist and national socialist symbols in the country, and also recognizing these criminal regimes.
