A group of scientists from the Glasgow University have managed to prove that the appearance of water on Earth is connected to space asteroids and comets.

After analysis of the oldest on the planet rock, which stayed on the canadian Peninsula in the Arctic, the researchers came to the conclusion that water existed on the Earth since the formation of the planet.

As they say in the article, published in the journal Science, the theory of the initial existence of water on our planet was confirmed after the Scottish professionals have studied the oldest rocks found in Antarctica in 1985. Geologists have discovered in samples of these rocks the water molecules, which contained a few atoms of deuterium and heavy hydrogen.

"This suggests, actually she came to Earth after it formed and cooled, and together with the dust, from which was modeled the planet. Most of the water in this dust disappeared, but its remnants were enough to form oceans of the Earth," - says an employee of the Glasgow University Lydia Hallis.
