The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko concerned about Russia's intention to enter the 2016 food embargo on Ukrainian goods, he said that Kiev must be ready for the economic consequences.

As informs on the last working day of the week press service of the President on the results of his meeting with the EU Commissioner on trade Cecilia Malmstrom, Poroshenko expressed concern about the Kremlin's intentions to introduce from 1 January 2016 embargo on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products and foodstuffs, as well as the customs tariffs on products from Ukraine.

"We must be prepared to face the economic consequences, because Russia has resorted not only to the occupation of the sovereign independent country of Ukraine, but also for a trade war against us," drew attention Poroshenko.

According to the President, Russia's share in the total foreign trade of Ukraine was strongly reduced to 16%. In addition, more than 37% of foreign trade of Ukraine currently falls on the member countries of the EU.

In this case, it was noted at the meeting, Ukrainian exports to the EU countries has great potential. The head of Ukraine appealed to the EU Commissioner on trade with the petition to support Ukrainian exports to the EU countries, for example, by facilitating access to the EU market for Ukrainian products.
