The Russian government has decided to introduce from 1 January 2016 food embargo against Ukraine. These measures taken in response to the fact that Kiev has joined the sanctions against Moscow.

Minister of financial development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev announced that from 1 January 2016 in respect of Ukraine imposed food embargo, reports TASS. "Because Ukraine has joined the sanctions against Russia and economic, financial, we decided on the introduction of protective measures in the form of a food embargo. Just this decision is deferred. It also deferred to 1 January," he said.

Recall, September 16, 2015 President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the decree about introduction in action of the list of 388 penalties against individuals and 105 legal entities of the Russian Federation, previously approved by the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine.

A ban were 29 banks, more than 20 airlines, several companies of the military-industrial complex and the major domestic manufacturers of anti-virus programs.

The sanctions list of Ukraine became famous in the media for containing a large number of absurdities and inconsistencies. For example, it got killed the brigade commander "Ghost" Alexey Brain, and Latvian correspondent, which was listed under their own author name.

Earlier, Russia's permanent representative at the EU Vladimir Chizhov announced that Moscow will not bargain with the West in connection with the punishment. The view was also expressed that the EU and the United States have created this dilemma, therefore, them and settle.
