The West wants to extend penalties against Russia for six months
Western leaders at the G20 conference agreed to extend the punishment relative to Russia for another six months, until July 2016, against the background of the Ukrainian elections, informs on Sunday, the Agency referring to the European diplomatic source.

"Elections in Ukraine are difficult. We have a chance to get what we want only if we are going to draw a map of the punishment. Financial penalties must remain in force until the end ", - quotes Agency quoted the source as saying.

The solution, according to a source, was made despite numerous calls to cooperating with Moscow in the fight against crime and terrorist group " Islamic state ", for example, after the events in Paris.

according to the source, in short the meeting was attended by the head of the USA Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of great Britain D. Cameron, Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi and France's foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who represented the country instead of President Francois Hollande.

During the meeting, the Western leaders stressed the need to continue to put pressure on the Russian Federation in connection with the elections in Ukraine.

Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated in connection with the situation in Ukraine. At the end of July 2014, the EU and the US from point penalties against certain individuals and organizations have moved to the measures against entire sectors of the Russian economy. In response, Russia restricted imports of food items from countries that have imposed against her punishment. In June 2015, in response to the extension of the sanctions Russia has extended food embargo until 5 August 2016.


Western countries since March 2014, has repeatedly imposed punishment for Russia's position on Ukraine. On 16 September Ukraine has expanded the List of anti-Russian measures.
