Turkey has fired more than 10 thousand civil servants Turkey continues its offensive against opponents of the government trying to stop a coup attempt, which occurred in July.

In accordance with the legislative act, published on Saturday, the Turkish authorities released more than 10 thousand civil servants who were suspected of having links with the movement and shut down 15 Kurdish media companies for alleged links to Kurdish militant groups, reported the state news Agency Anadolu.

The new decree "gave it easier to dismiss civil servants who are assumed to be members of terrorist organizations or groups participating in activities against national security", according to Anadolu.

Many of the dismissed civil servants were believed to be linked to Gulen, a Turkish cleric, whom Turkey blames for a failed coup in July and believes a terrorist. 15 Kurdish media companies that were closed are accused of links with the party of the PKK, which fought against the Turkish state. Turkey, the United States and the European Union consider it a terrorist organization.

The closure of the media is the latest of escalating moves against the Kurds. On Tuesday authorities detained the two elected mayors who are suspected of having links with terrorists.
