Two powerful earthquakes struck Italy Two powerful earthquakes hit Central Italy about 50 miles to the North of the site of the deadly earthquake, which occurred in August, which killed about 300 people, according to USGS.

A second earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 - 3.2 km (2 miles) to the North of Visso and 58 km (36 miles) from Perugia, according to the USGS.
