Kansas city police have arrested a man in an alcohol intoxication tried to suffocate 4-month-old baby. At the moment the accused is in custody, police said.

Police report that the man approached the woman who was standing in the store at the box office early in the morning, grabbed her child and began to choke. The woman screamed and the man stopped.

The man was identified by police as Oleg Zhovnirovich, reports CBS affiliate KCTV.

Police say people in the store helped the woman and detained the man until officers arrived. Officers say that the store security overpowered the suspect and pinned him down until police arrived, according to KCTV.

"It is wonderful that everyone was there and helped to detain the suspect until police arrived," said store Manager John Lacey.

The child was not injured. Investigators say the man may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
