Died the king of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej The king of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej died on Thursday in hospital aged 88 years. He was the reigning monarch of incumbent heads of state and of all monarchs in Thai history.

After a few hours, his body will take in the Grand Palace, where it will be held memorial service. Revered monk Somdej of Pavanarit will take part in the procession. He will be accompanied by hereditary Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.

The body of the king, accompanied by his family will convoy to the Grand Palace where mourners have already taken place, to observe the historic event. Many of them were in place already at midnight.

"I couldn't sleep, and I don't want to sit at home, I had to do something because I'm so sad," said 28-year-old Patarapong, Shankou. "I came to the Great Palace to be with the other mourners ".
He was in the Great Palace from 5am local time and plans to stay until the procession is over.

After the body is delivered to the Palace, there will be a funeral ceremony of bathing - a traditional ceremony in Buddhist culture. "This is a very important moment in the history of my country," said 36-year-old anon Pairot, who was one of those who attended the public meeting. "I wanted to be a part of it and join other Thais who mourn our King."
