The Pope admonished Americans before the presidential election Pope Francis gave some advice to American Catholics who choose the President: study the candidates, pray and then vote your conscience.

Francis was asked Sunday on the way home, when he returned from Azerbaijan, and the priest gave advice to the American believers who have to make a choice between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald trump.

Francis said he will never interfere in the election campaign: "people are sovereign".
"I will just say: well read the quotation, pray, and choose consciously".

Francis intervened in the campaign in the beginning of this year, when, on the way home from a trip the U.S.-Mexico border, he was asked about trump's proposal to build a wall to keep Mexicans from the US on the other side. Francis expressed his opinion, which was strongly negative. Trump fired back, saying that it was "shameful" for a religious leader decision.

Many American Catholics struggled trying to choose between the two candidates, asking a series of questions. Some of the questions were too sharp, which caused some uproar in the political ranks.
