The President of the Philippines Rodrigo wants Duterte for 6 months to "restore order" in respect of a drug problem in his country.

Duterte said Saturday that he did not understand the seriousness of the problem until he became President. He was accused of ordering or encouraging the murder of hundreds of dealers and drug users since taking office in June. "But the problem is ... I can't kill them all ... even if I wanted to," he told reporters. "I had no idea that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are already in the drug business and what's worse, they are currently working in the government."

His comments were made at a press conference on the release of a Norwegian group of hostages, came two days after Edgar Matobato, testified before the Senate Committee.
Matobato said he was part of a death squad who kill drug dealers on the orders of Duterte when the President was mayor of Davao city in the period between 1988 and 2013.

The representative of Duterte denies that the President supports murder. The President actually told the police to shoot if the perp resisted arrest, and in his speech he also appeared to tell civilians to take the law into their own hands. "If (the offender) is struggling, and he struggles with death, you can kill him," he said. "Please, don't hesitate to call us, to the police, or do it yourself if you have a gun ... you have my support."

Rights watch notes that the country needs an "independent" investigation into assassinations, which allowed to make Duterte. Still, the suppression of resistance to drugs has made the President popular among many citizens of the Philippines, although he also faced criticism that he and the police went too far. Chief of police Ronald Dela Rosa told the Senate Committee investigating the assassination: "there was no order to kill, but people support the suppression of drugs, despite the error in the court by the police".

Charges along with bombast, action and temperament Duterte already damaged relations with the United States and Australia, both key allies. He also threatened to pull the Philippines from the United Nations after critical comments about his action to suppress the resistance of the lords.
