Florida recorded 5 new cases of zika virus infection Florida recorded 5 new cases of infection with zika virus. While not announced a new zone of activity.

The Governor of Florida said that confirmed five new, travel-related cases of zika virus infection, including the first in the area of Tampa Bay. However, officials have not yet announced a new zone of active local transmission.

Governor Rick Scott said during a round table in the Pinellas County region of Tampa, four new cases were associated with mosquitoes in Miami's art district Wynwood. He said that the fifth case was diagnosed in a resident of Pinellas County who had not traveled internationally. The Ministry of health last week announced other 5 cases of infection with zika virus associated with mosquitoes in Miami beach.

Officials are considering the possibility that a resident of Pinellas County was infected with the virus in the neighbouring County.

While adults have the virus zika causes mild symptoms of sickness, on pregnant women and unborn children it has a detrimental effect. The virus affects the brain in the fetus and causes microcephaly.

According to new data, nearly 400 people may be infected with a virus Zeke until the end of summer. That assessment was released today at the University of Florida and other institutions. Other States, such as
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas also may be affected.
