Turkish troops shot civilians on the border Turkish troops shot and killed eight Syrian civilians, including four women and three children. Another eight people were injured in the incident.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for human rights (SOHR) reported that Turkish troops opened fire on civilians who were described as refugees, as they tried to cross the Turkish border from Northern rural Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province. Some of the wounded are in critical condition.

The Turkish representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs stated that the reports "do not reflect reality." Turkish forces have killed as many as 60 civilians since the beginning of the year.

A senior Turkish official could not confirm the attack. "With regard to the alleged execution of Syrian citizens, while they tried to cross the southern border illegally: We are not able to verify this information," the official told CNN.

"Turkey has been providing humanitarian assistance to refugees from Northern Syria and adheres to open door policy. - That means we accept refugees whose lives are under immediate threat".

A statement from the representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs showed that the reports that the security forces "intentionally opened fire" on civilians, penetrating into Syria illegally "do not reflect reality."

By the way, more than 2,500 migrants have drowned in the Mediterranean while trying to cross the border to Europe this year 880 drowned in the last week of may.
