One of the first women in China, fighter pilots and members of air force aerobatic team was killed in a crash during training over the weekend, according to Chinese state media.

30-year-old captain Yu Xu died on Saturday during a routine training flight with aerobatics team, according to reports. The Chinese military has not provided details of the accident in Hebei province, but state media, citing military sources and witnesses said Yu was thrown out of her plane after it collided with another aircraft during training. After she flew out of the plane the wing of the other plane hit Yu, killing her, according to the report from China Daily.

Male Navigator ejected and survived, the report said. Another jet also landed without damage. The black box from the plane Yu was recovered and handed over to authorities investigate the accident, China Daily reported.

Yu was the first woman who received the certificate for flying in single-engine multipurpose aircraft J-10, which was commissioned in 2004. The plane is China's first domestic fighter jet, which competes with Western planes in their capabilities.

Yu flew fighter J-10 from the 1st of August. Her last performance was at Airshow China in Zhuhai earlier this month. "I think the acrobatics are quite complex, with high demands and standards prepared in all aspects. Our skills are quite satisfactory, but we need more training, if we want to be better," said Yu during his speech in an interview with CCTV China.

30-year-old Yu joined the people's liberation army air force in September 2005. In 2009, she was
qualified as a fighter pilot. "I am quite pleased with myself, because it's a solo flight means that I became a pilot," she told CCTV.
