A forest fire destroyed the town of Fort McMurray A forest fire destroyed whole areas of Fort McMurray. Currently, many of the buildings are unrecognizable. Small pieces of structures and charred vehicles is all that remains in some areas.

90 thousand inhabitants were forced to flee from a forest fire and numerous explosions. Regional fire chief Darby Allen gave reporters a tour of the city, to show how quickly spread the fire, and as firefighters fought to save as many buildings as possible.

In some parts of the city, the destruction is absolute. Street by street is completely leveled. Trees that are used for the streets to be burned. The districts of Beacon Hill and Abasand are unrecognizable. there you can see only the distorted metal structure, which was in ruins.

Allen understands some pictures can be a shock for residents who hope to return home.
"You could see images of the area where you live, and in fact you can see the image, where was your home. I just want everyone to know that there were hundreds of people ...," he says. "I really don't think we could do more. It was a terrible fire, no matter what we tried to do turned out differently. ... We did everything we can".

According to statistics, all the schools were saved, and only 10% of the structures in town were destroyed. Allen says firefighters worked to stop the fire that raged in the center of the city, and many buildings, including homes, businesses, schools and hospitals were saved.

"We want our citizens to know that the house is still here, and soon we expect you back," he says.
