India suffers from severe drought The most severe drought over the last decade, which has covered India gradually receding. The relief is due to the advent of the monsoon in mid-June, the forecast is for above average precipitation.

However, the head of WaterAid India policy, Nitya Jacob, says the level of groundwater is so depleted that even if a good monsoon comes in June and the drought will end, it's not enough.

In addition, the combination of heat with humidity makes India a hot spot for different kind of diseases associated with a fatal outcome. In 2015 the drought and disease in India, killing about 2,500 people.

In 2016 10 cities across India has teamed up with various organizations to create plans to combat drought.
