In the accident were 56 cars on the highway of Beijing-Xian in Shanxi province in China at about 9 a.m. Monday, according according to state news Agency Xinhua.

"The fog was heavy, so I went slowly when I leave the tunnel," said one of the drivers involved in the incident. "I saw two cars horizontally blocked the road, so I slammed on the brakes."

Snow and rain caused major accident, which injured 37 people. Firefighters told CCTV that when they arrived on the scene, they fought the fire in front of the cluster.

"While some of us were rolling out the hoses, the main officer, has led efforts to rescue the trapped people," said firefighter van Rubing.

The day after the collision the highway was still closed to traffic, reported in accordance with the information from the control Center in Shanxi province. The investigation is ongoing.
