Duterte should be prosecuted for "mass murder" The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte needs to be brought to justice after he admitted that he was involved in the murder of suspected drug dealers, said one of the main critics.

Since taking office in June, Duterte conducted brutal "war on drugs", for 6 months on his orders killed 5,900 deaths. Duterte had previously been charged with the murder of a government official from a machine gun. The President's comments equate to the recognition of "mass murder," said Senator Leila De Lima on Thursday. "This is mass murder," she said. "High crime is grounds for impeachment."

"We Filipinos are Catholic country, so we all know that murder is bad, murder, madness, and murder is against the law of both man and God's law," said de Lima. "Showing off the blood on his hands, the President Duterte contributes to the further violation of the law by the police and vigilantes, and spend more of extrajudicial executions, without fear of being prosecuted," said Jamin in a statement.

In September, De Lima was ousted as President of the Senate hearings and she was under investigation in the House of representatives for alleged corruption offences. She received threats and was forced to leave his home after witnesses at the trial read out your phone number and home address on national television. "I don't feel safe," said de Lima. "I warned some people that there is a serious security risk for me because of my criticism of what the President does."

While the President and his drug war are popular with many Filipinos, it is growing criticism in recent months.
