Freezing rain fell on most of the Dakota A large part of Dakota, and southwest Minnesota fell freezing rain Sunday morning. Later the temperature dropped and the rain turned into snow. Freezing rain brought an irregular supply of electricity in Dakota and Nebraska.

As at 11.15 PM, South Dakota reported different accidents due to freezing rain. In Nebraska, strong winds caused hundreds of outages of electricity in the Central and Eastern parts of the state.

"Between freezing rain and snow, the winds howled like crazy" until the end of the day on Monday, said meteorologist National weather service Greg Gust in Grand forks, North Dakota. A Blizzard warning was in effect for much of North Dakota, Western South Dakota and a small area of Eastern Montana until Monday, with expected snow of 8 to 15 inches and winds up to 55 miles per hour.

The Department of transport of South Dakota has announced the closure Sunday night, highway 90 leading to the borders of Wyoming to Chamberlain - length of about 260 miles. Transportation Department North Dakota closed a 240-mile stretch on Sunday night, from the border of Montana to Jamestown because of a Blizzard and almost zero visibility. In South Dakota issued a warning about flooding to brown County on Sunday evening due to a combination of rain and melting snow.
