Actress Carrie Fisher Actress Carrie Fisher best known for playing Princess Leia in "Star wars," died Tuesday in Los Angeles. She was 60 years old. Carrie Fisher died at 8:55 am. Fischer's death came 4 days later after she suffered a heart attack during a flight from London to Los Angeles, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The actress who got a role in Hollywood as a sexy teenager in 1975 in the film "Shampoo" was the daughter of screen legend Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. But her biggest breakthrough as an actress came in just a few years after she graduated from high school and has appeared with her mother on Broadway.

After the role of Princess Leia in "Star wars," Fisher began to position as a feminist icon, as her character was tough and independent woman. Fisher went on to appear on the screens in 1980-ies in the sequel "Empire strikes back" and 1983's "return of the Jedi".

Actor Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in "Star wars" said, "there are No words. Carrie brought all of us light and joy. I'm really going to miss her."
