In Pakistan arrested a leader of Jamaat-UD-Dawa The alleged mastermind of the terrorist attacks of 2008 which killed 164 people in Mumbai, India, was placed under house arrest in Pakistan.

Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, the leader of Pakistan's Jamaat-UD-Dawa (JD) - were detained in Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan, according to a government statement published on Sunday evening. Sayid is in custody in Lahore. Four other men - Abdulla, Ubaid, Zafar Iqbal, Abdur Rehman Abid and Qazi, at Niyaz - was also placed under house arrest in other cities.

The arrests come in combination with the placement of the two organizations - JUD and Falaha-e-Insaniat faundeyshen in accordance with the 1997 Law on combating terrorism. All men were detained for being active members of organizations in accordance with section 11-EEE of the Law on combating terrorism which gives the government the right to arrest or detain suspects for up to 12 months.

In a video statement released by the organization of the JUD, Hafiz Saeed said that the decision to arrest was made due to "external pressure." "Trump is the new President of the United States, which wants to have good relations with modi," said Saeed.

Press Secretary, Hafiz Khalid Walid, has also accused the United States of "turning pressure" on Pakistan to arrest Saeed has threatened court, as well as street protests. "We will consider this case in court and on the streets. We are planning further rallies across the country in protest against this action," said Walid, adding that Saeed will be under house arrest for 19 days.

Neither Washington nor India has not commented on the charges, but the analyst on security issues and Director of the Institute for peace studies, Amir Rana, said that it is more likely that the solution is internal. "It appears to be genuine efforts of the government of Pakistan against non-state actors within their borders," said Rana.

India has long called for the arrest of Hafiz Saeed, for his involvement in several terrorist attacks on Indian soil. In the past, India has announced that it has provided irrefutable evidence of the involvement of Saeed in the Mumbai attacks. He said repeatedly denied any involvement in the killings in Mumbai or support of terrorist activities.
