Michael Flynn resigned The national security Advisor, Michael Flynn, resigned on Monday evening. His resignation is connected with his meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak.

The Ministry of justice warned the administration to trump last month that Flynn was misled by the officials of the administration about its contacts with Kislyak in the United States.

"I inadvertently informed the elected Vice-President and the other with incomplete information about my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador. I sincerely apologized to the President and Vice-President, and they accepted my apology," writes Flynn, in accordance with the copy of his resignation letter obtained by CNN.

"I was glad to serve our nation and the American people in such an extraordinary manner," wrote Flynn. "I know that with the strong leadership of President Donald trump and Vice-President Mike Pence and all the team, this team will go down in history as one of the greatest presidencies in US history."

General Keith Kellogg will be a temporary national security adviser, multiple sources tell CNN. Most recently, he held the position of head of the national security Council staff. The scandal currently leaves trump without one of his closest advisers. Flynn was an adviser to trump on foreign policy and national security issues early in the presidential race of 2016.
