Avril Lavigne was thrilled to meet Prince Charles The singer wrote the theme music to Tim Burton`s latest movie Alice in Wonderland, and so attended its royal premiere in London. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, attended the event, with the stars of the film meeting the royal pair.

Avril was thrilled when her time came, although she admits she was very nervous in case she veered from the strict protocol she was told to follow. "It`s this whole thing where you can`t talk, you can`t reach your hand out to say anything unless they say hi to you. So I`m standing in the line up as they walk over, freaking out, trying to keep my composure and he`s like, `Oh, hey, you wrote the song for the film, you`re the Canadian singer,` " she explained. "I`m pretty obsessed with England and castles and anything like that so it was amazing. I did a little curtsey. Well, I tried, I did something. I don`t really know what I did. It was a half one."

Avril split from her husband Deryck Whibley last year, and has since been linked to several men. She insists she is just having fun with friends, explaining she loves nothing better than going dancing at nightclubs with pals.

"Any time there`s a reason to celebrate I`m always down," she told presenter Chelsea Handler. "In some ways I have an edge to myself. I like to misbehave sometimes. I like to drink beer and play hockey. I played ice hockey growing up on the guys team. It was physically abusive - I think that`s where I learned a lot of my manners from. Then I played with the girls in the high school league."
